old comps- NEW CONCEPT:
I feared that the initial design looked like a copy-cat version of other contemporary websites. Therefore, I scrapped everything and brainstormed new concepts that would make the website stand out with its own unique design elements.
The colonial hats on the squirrel mascots show how the students are explorers in the design world. Through AIGA GMU, the students are able to go to various events and make daily discoveries about design. Also, AIGA GMU helps students "touch the sky" and "reach new heights" by giving them experience and exposure. This flying squirrel/colonial concept will help make our group stand out from the rest by having this narrative. It makes sense for AIGA college groups to use mascots because we are in college and colleges rely on their mascots to create their "image."
